John Lieber, 85, of Sutliff Rd., Oriskany, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 15, 1926, in Floyd, the son of John and Eva Kozar Lieber, Sr. He attended Floyd schools.
On February 9, 1950, John was united in marriage to Dolores Dean in Boonville.
John was the owner and operator of John Lieber Service Repair.
He was very active in the South Rome Seniors Citizens and was a former member of the Rome Moose Lodge.
Surviving besides his loving wife of sixty-two years, Dolores; are two daughters, Nancy Miner, of Rome, and Linda Lieber, of Oriskany; five sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Dianne Lieber, of Taberg, Jerry Lieber, of Syracuse, Michael and Marcia Lieber, of Schenectady, James Lieber, of Sherrill, and Thomas and Nancy Lieber, of Albany; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanor and Robert Sargent, of Rupert, Idaho, Mary Ann Mabrey, of Chico, California, and Katherine Cinsavich, of Richmond, Virginia; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by two sisters, Rosalind Melnick, and Ann Tenney; and a brother, G. Harry Lieber.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, at 11:00 a.m. where the Rev. Arthur Miner will officiate. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Lee. Family and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
