Sale aids Cancer Society
WEST LEYDEN — Relay for Life team Charlie’s Angels holds a garage sale Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 1011 Main St. (Route 26), West Leyden. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
Concert featurs trumpet solo
BOONVILLE — The Boonville Concert Band will feature a trumpet solo, "Portrait of a Trumpet," played by Dr. Jon Magendanz, at its concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Village Bandstand.
Magendanz is a retired dentist, music educator and freelance musician, having played with the band for several years. He also plays violin with the Utica Symphony, plus the Venice Symphony in Florida during the winter.
Concerts will resume Aug. 10 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Village Bandstand.
Relay team seeks cans, bottles
REMSEN — Remsen Relay for Life team Fred’s Vikings is having a bottle and can drive on Saturday in front of the Remsen High School. The event will run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Car wash, bake sale help children
The Voices of Christ Citywide Crusade will hold a car wash and bake sale fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdayat Franklyn’s Field on Black River Boulevard.
