Youth art show opens Tuesday

BOONVILLE — Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. the Summer Youth Art Exhibit opens in the Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center, 106 Schuyler St.

Refreshments will be available. The students worked hard on several art mediums "to provide the community with this awesome exhibit of their work," DPN officials said.

Tuesdays and Thursdays Piano and accordion lessons are offered by Gail Haile, open to children and adults. They are for beginners or for those who want to brush up their skills. Contact DPN for available open time slots.

Michael Ferris will offer voice lessons. Contact DPN to sign up.

Monday at 7 p.m. Look for the "community" float "I Will Stand by my Father, Wars of our Freedom" in the the Boonville-Oneida County Fair.

It was built by students from the summer Recreation programs from Boonville and Forestport and the Summer Youth Art program at DPN, while they learned about the history of; the Battle at Oriskany, The War of 1812, and the Civil War’s 97th Battalion from Boonville.
