Grant funds septic system
OSCEOLA — The Pratt-Northam Foundation of Lowville has given $5,996 to help pay for a "much needed new septic system and leach field" on the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame and Museum property at 1121 Comins Road.
The New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers Association had raised about 40 percent of the $9,996 cost quoted by its contractor and Pratt-Northam donated the rest.
Association officials explained that "The available area’s proximity to a protected wetland and trout stream required the installation very costly space-saving Eljen infusers, more than tripling the cost initially budgeted. With only 40 percent of the necessary funds raised and fearing that the project would have to wait yet another year, the fiddlers’ association members were overjoyed and immensely grateful to receive the Pratt-Northam grant, which enabled them to have the installation completed and grass seed planted before the opening day of their free summer concert series."
