Walkers start, chair Pilates due, State Fair trip signups under way

The walkers have started, new Chair Pilates class is scheduled and events including a breakfast are coming up at the Ava Dorfman Center, 305 E. Locust St. Call the center at 337-8230 to register for any of the classes listed.

Enough people have signed up so the Walking Group with Chris VonMatt, Wellness Instructor, has started. More can join in Mondays at 10 a.m.

Bocce Leagues signup continues.

Chair Pilates, taught by Kathy Angleton, will begin on Monday, July 23, 2:45-3:45 p.m. The focus is on strengthening and stretching the core muscles, which include the back, and the abdominal muscles and posture. Relaxation techniques are also included. The 8 week session is $38 or $28 for center members. Participation is welcome throughout program.

Health-Screening and physician release forms are required for fitness classes.

You can join ongoing fitness programs started earlier this month or in May or June.

The monthly Breakfast will be on Wednesday, July 25 this month, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Menu will include: omelet, home fries, sausage or bacon - $5; scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, home fries - $3.50. All include juice, coffee or tea. Toast upon request. Reservations required!

Reservations are being taken for a Dinner Dance, Wednesday, Aug. 22. A chicken barebecue prepared by the Marine Corps League will be served with baked beans, macaroni salad, dessert and beverage. Music will be provided by DJ Frank. The cost is $15 or $13 for members. Reservations with payment are required by Aug. 15.

Signups are under way for a State Fair Trip ­ Monday, Aug. 27, a Senior Day that includes Buddy Rich Band in Chevy Court. The cost is $18 per person. Registration with payment is required no later than Aug. 20.

Also scheduled is a Tug Hill Vineyards Brunch & Wine Tour Sunday, Sept. 16. The price is $40 per person. Reservations with payment are due by Aug. 31. After brunch is the wine tour and then you can pick raspberries on your own, for $3 do a wine tasting, shop, walk or sit on the front porch and enjoy the view.

West Side Story is coming to the Stanley Theater, Nov. 7 and 8. The center is going to be scheduling a bus/limo to bring members to the show. Call the Center if you are interested.
