Preserving Historic Cemeteries topic Tuesday

HERKIMER — "Preserving Historic Cemeteries" will be the topic of the Herkimer County Historical Society’s free, public program scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m.

It will be presented by Robin and David Prinzhorn of New York Historic Cemetery Preservation Society (NYHCPS) in the Society’s Eckler Building, 406 N. Main St..

The program will explain the importance and significance of preserving historic cemeteries, the do’s and don’ts of cleaning headstones and entering them when abandoned. The speakers will use their current project in Little Falls, Rural Grove (Wilcox) Cemetery, as their primary example. Robin is a native of Little Falls. Upon her return from Arizona in 2007 after spending 13 years there, her first priority was to start a non-profit to fulfill her mission of preserving and protecting historic cemeteries.
