‘Signs of Alzheimer’s’ program July 18 in Jervis

The Central New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association presents a workshop titled "Know the 10 Signs Of Alzheimer’s Disease" in Jervis Public Library, 613 N. Washington St., Wednesday, July 18 at 2:30 p.m. The free event will be held in the library’s accessible fourth floor auditorium.

To register for the workshop, contact the Alzheimer’s Association, 617-4025, ext. 125.

According to the association, Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Though the majority of those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s are 65 and over, up to 5 percent of people with the disease have early onset Alzheimer’s, which can appear as early as age 40. Early intervention can slow the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life for patients and their caregivers.

For more information about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, visit the association’s web site at www.alz.org or visit the information desk at the library.
