Supper, bird walk Wednesday

SHERBURNE — The Chenango Bird Club will conduct an evening bird walk and covered dish supper at Rogers Environmental Education Center, 2721 State Highway 80 on Wednesday. The event is free of charge and is open to the public.

Guests should park in the visitor’s parking lot of the Rogers Center and meet in the nearby picnic pavilion at 6 p.m. to share a picnic dinner. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a dish to pass as well as a plate and silverware. The bird walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

Former Rogers Center Program Director and Chenango Bird Club member Fred von Mechow, an avid birder for 35 years, will lead the walk. He will point out birds’ visual field marks and songs during the trip through the Rogers Center’s diverse habitats. Binoculars will be provided.

Nature enthusiasts of all levels and interests are invited to join the Chenango Bird Club monthly (except January, February, and March) programs. Next month’s walk will be held on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m.
