Free child seat checkup July 18

NEW HARTFORD — The third annual Child Passenger Safety Program, sponsored by the New Hartford Police Department, will take place Wednesday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Luke’s Campus of Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, 1656 Champlin Ave.

The FSLH Security Team and New Hartford Police Department will be inspecting cars free of charge to make sure car seats are properly installed in the vehicles.

If a child car seat is found to be unsafe, the New Hartford Police Department will provide a new child car seat and properly install it in the vehicle. The car seats are provided at no charge through a New York State grant.

"This event is always very successful and we appreciate the support and involvement from law enforcement in our community, said Steve Magnussen, manager of Security Operations and assistant safety officer at FSLH. "We are hoping for another good turnout this year."

If you are unable to attend the event contact the New Hartford Police Department at 724-7111 to make an appointment to have your car seat inspected.
