Hospitalized after taking ‘bath salts’
A Remsen woman was hospitalized for taking the drug ‘bath salts’ early this morning after she showed up screaming and hallucinating at a Utica man’s residence.
Police said the 21-year-old woman, whose identity was not released, suddenly appeared at a residence in the 1200 block of Mary St. at 5:35 a.m. and told the resident that someone was after her. The man let the woman into his residence to call 9-1-1, but then he asked her to wait outside when she started getting more irate.
Police responded and found the woman talking rapidly and screaming that someone was trying to get her. She was also pointing at people who didn’t exist and claiming that they were going to harm her.
The woman was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica — though authorities said they had a hard time getting her to go inside because she claimed "he" was inside. Eventually the woman was treated and admitted to police that she had taken the synthetic drug "bath salts".
