Food Kart Day to aid pantry

OLD FORGE — The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks will sponsor a Food Kart Day to collect food for the Webb Community Food Pantry Saturday, July 7.

Kiwanis members and other volunteers will be stationed at DiOrio’s Supermarket in Old Forge, Dan’s Food Mart in Eagle Bay and Kinney Drugs in Old Forge. The Kiwanians will have shopping carts available to collect food donations for the food pantry.

"We look forward to a generous contribution from shoppers that will assist the Webb Community Food Pantry with their work to assist those in the community in need of a helping hand," said Bill Baumann, Kiwanis chairman of the initiative.

As shoppers enter the stores they will be provided with a list of suggested, non-perishable food items that are needed by the Webb Community Food Pantry. The shoppers will be asked to purchase an extra item or two and to deposit them in the Kiwanis Food Karts as they leave the store. At the end of the day, the food items will be delivered to the Webb Community Food Pantry, which is coordinated by Eileen Tobin at St. Bartholomew’s Church for distribution as needed.
