Free reception opens show July 5

OLD FORGE — View, the arts center 3273 State Route 28 will host a free opening reception for its "oldest and one of the most beloved traditions" - the 61st Annual Central Adirondack Art Show on Thursday, July 5th, from 5-7 p.m. The festive kick off for the annual exhibit will include music by Old Forge’s Val Gaudin on the piano, and hors d’oeuvres.

The exhibition is known for its wide variety of fine arts including acrylics, oils, watercolors, drawings, pastels, graphics, mixed media, and sculpture. What began as an exhibition hung in Miriam Kashiwa’s yard on chicken wire has maintained its inclusive roots, but grown into a impressive exhibition that amasses high quality work from both local and national artists.

View is accepting entries to this open show with the last day to enter being Sunday, July 1, noon-4 p.m. Awards include a top Master Division’s award of $200 and Special Incentive Awards for handicapped, beginning and student artists. Judge Elizabeth Dubben, established and served as director of Amrose Sable Gallery, in Albany, from 2006 to 2009. She earned a BFA in Studio Art in 2005 and an MBA with a Non- Profit Management Certificate in 2009 from the College of St. Rose. Since 2009 she has been the director of exhibitions at Saratoga Arts and has curated several exhibitions or served on selection committees

at Opalka Gallery, Albany Center Gallery, The Albany International Airport Arts Gallery and the HVCC Teaching Gallery. In 2012 Elizabeth added Development Associate to her titles.
