Lightning safety promoted

This week has been declared National Lightning Safety Awareness Week.

The goal of this week is to help the public learn more about the dangers of lightning. It is also a time for public and private planning officials and residents to review their own preparedness plans, and understand what to do, and not do, before and after a lightning strike.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton will issue Public Information Statements over NOAA Weather Radio and the Internet each day of Lightning Safety Awareness Week.

Statements will be available at the following website
