Holland Patent grad Parsons pitches Trail Blazers to victory

BOONVILLE — MVCC pitcher and Holland Patent graduate Chas Parsons lifted the first-place Adirondack Trail Blazers to a 10-0 New York Collegiate Baseball League victory over the Geneva Red Wings on Friday night as he tossed seven innings of shutout baseball.

Parsons, who is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA this season, limited Geneva to seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball, and Corbin Stykemain pitched a perfect eighth as he struck out two and Geoff Soja pitched the final inning giving up a single hit and no runs to complete the shutout victory.

Offensively for the Trail Blazers, which improved to 10-4 overall and sit tied for first place in the Eastern Division standings with the Syracuse Junior Chiefs (8-2), Bobby McLaughlin went 3-for-3 including a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, as James Anderson added three hits with two RBIs.

The Trail Blazers will visit Utica on Sunday for a 7 p.m. game.
