Bonide gets $100K for expansion
WHITESTOWN — Bonide Products, Inc., has received a $100,000 grant from Empire State Development Corp. to support its expansion.
The project includes the recent construction of a 75,000-square-foot storage and distribution facility.
The formulator and packager of lawn and garden products has more than 100 employees at its 6301 Sutliff Road location.
"Bonide is certainly a point of pride here in the Mohawk Valley region," said Assemblyman Anthony J. Brindisi, D-116, Utica. "Its products are purchased by major retailers and home and garden centers. This company has remained a family owned company for nearly 100 years, and its continued growth in the industry has led to the company’s need to expand."
The company began in 1926 and moved to Whitestown in 2001, having outgrown its plant in New York Mills.
"We at Bonide are grateful for this support," said James Wurz, company president. "It is critical to our dual goals of reliably providing quality products to our growing customer base, as well as in ensuring a safe and efficient work space for our employee family."
