Sidnee Lenaghen, an 8th grade student at Strough Middle School, has won a competitive placement to a Syracuse University grant-funded summer program, Project Engage, through SU’s L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science.
She will attend the Project Engage: Engineering and the Human Body program from July 22-28, said Strough guidance counselor Marilyn Olejniuk.
Project Engage involves two one-week camps at SU, with one topic for 7th grade girls and another for 8th grade girls. The college said 20 girls are accepted for each week of the program; through a sponsorship from Siemens Foundation. Lenaghen was in competition with over 120 girls from six states who applied, said Olejniuk.
Lenaghen is the daughter of Corri Lenaghen and Loren Lenaghen.
