Richard D. "Dick" Waldron, 70, of Verona, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born on May 15, 1942, in Rome, the son of Lester and Helen Soboleski Waldron. On September 26, 1986, Dick was united in marriage to Nancy Strong in Verona.
After high school and a four-year stint in the United States Air Force, Dick joined Oneida Silversmiths and retired as CAD/CAM systems administrator after thirty-nine years in 2003.
Surviving besides his loving wife of twenty-five years, Nancy; are a daughter, Paula Waldron, of Powatan, VA and her fiance, Patrick Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Mamerced Waldron, of Rome; a step-daughter, Mary Cabrera and her fiance, John Burke, of Rome; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise and Dudley Donnelly, of Hudson, FL, Barbara Congden, of Cleveland, NY; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronald and Hilda Waldron, of Stuart, FL, and Dennis Waldron, of Newport Richey, FL; three grandchildren, Zach, Sarah, and Nicholas; a brother-in-law, David VanTassel, of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by a grandson, Tyler; a sister, Cynthia VanTassel; a beloved dog, Rachel; and his best friend, Eddie Wallace.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment with Military Honors will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
