Berggren concert to aid museum

BOONVILLE — Sunday AT the Boonville Black River Canal Museum will present Adirondack Folk Singer Dan Berggren in a concert to raise funds for the museum.

The concert will start at 3 p.m. in the Elementary School Auditorium, Ford Street. Pre-sale tickets are $8 at Fynmore Studios and Creekside Gifts and Antiques or from any museum board member. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 on a first come, first serve basis.

Dan Berggren has been collecting, writing and singing folk music of the Adirondacks for the past 30 years. He grew up in the mountains on the land farmed by his mother’s family and worked in the woods on a forest ranger’s crew and a survey crew. Hearing stories and songs from local friends and neighbors, Dan has developed a style that captures the spirit of the mountains, museum officials said. A familiar voice at coffeehouses, museums, schools and libraries throughout New York State including Holland Patent and Mohawk Vallley Community College in Rome.

Berggren will be joined by the Adirondack Community Chorus, directed by Peg Nuspliger, and the Canal Youth Chorale, directed by Sarah Stedman. The group is comprised of students from Adirondack High School and Middle School.
