The Shenandoah Trio and Doug George Kanentiio will perform Sunday, June 17, 4-6 p.m. at Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse University.
Tickets are $15. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The Canonization of (Saint) Kateri Tekakwitha (Mohawk-Algonquin) will take place on Oct. 21, 2012 by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican in Rome, Italy.
This event is a fundraiser for the Shenandoah Trio and Mohawk journalist, Doug George Kanentiio, in order to pay for the necessary expenses to sing at the Mass of Thanksgiving and report on this historic occasion.
Kanentiio, an award winning journalist and lecturer. will give a history of Kateri Tekakwitha (Mohawk/Alqonquin). He is vice president of the Hiawatha Institute of Indigenous Knowledge, in partnership with Syracuse University.
