Pirate show auditions slated

TOWN OF LEE — Rome Community Theater holds open auditions for its summer children’s production of "Adventures of the Fearsome Pirate Frank" at 3 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday in the theater, 8911 Turin Road.

The play requires a large cast, ages 6-18.

The musical production set in Elizabethan times involves the teen-age heart throb of the popular pirate play, The Fearsome Pirate Frank and his supporting cast, who get kidnapped by real pirates and serve on a real pirate ship. This "zany musical romp" includes the prima donna Esmerelda, zombie pirates, singing sirens and even Spiderman.

"Adventures of the Fearsome Pirate Frank" show dates are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-11 for evening performances, and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Aug. 12.

The show was written by Pat Lydersen with music by Wendy Woolf. The show is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. of Englewood, Colo.

The show will be directed by Kirstin Impicciatore, assisted by Jeffrey Isherwood. Linda Slavin is music director, Laura DeFranco is choreographer and Carl DeFranco is producer.

No prior preparation is required. Actors may try for specific roles or just read in general. Applicants are asked to wear comfortable clothes to allow them to move on stage. Parents or guardians need to be present at the auditions and should bring their calendars to be able to list any known conflicts.

RCT membership or previous stage experience is not required.
