Marilyn Smaldon Calicchia, 74, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on April 28, 1938, daughter of the late Edward R. and Bettina Campanaro Smaldon. Marilyn graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1956. On May 28, 1960 she married Benito "Benny" Calicchia in St. John the Baptist Church. Marilyn retired from Rome City School District Food Services after 30 years plus. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

Surviving besides her husband Benny, are two daughters, Carol Tardugno and John Waite, and Lisa Calicchia and Joe Boetto; three grandchildren, Mia Marie, Carli Ann and Carl Jr.; two very special great-grandchildren who had a special place in her heart, Nicholas and Giavanna; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
