Three individual employee contracts and tenure awards for two administrators, will be considered Wednesday night by the Board of Education. The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school district office, 409 Bell Road. On the agenda:

¿ A resolution to authorize individual contracts lists one-year agreements from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 for three employees with current contracts due to expire; the 2.75 percent pay increase is comparable to other district contract awards. Director of Employee Relations Frank Conestabile said staffers’ current salaries include: Diane Baker, executive secretary, $57,725; Richard Randall, senior custodian, $53,782; Andrew Thompson, transportation supervisor, $57,923.

The one-year contracts would coordinate with prior approved contracts for district unions and individual agreements that expire in June 2013, Conestabile said.

¿ A resolution to award tenure includes Strough Middle School Principal Tracy O’Rourke and Staley Upper Elementary School Assistant Principal Frederick Zamperetti, at dates of July 30 and August 31, respectively. Both were named to their positions in 2009. Tenure, typically considered after a probationary period of three years, guarantees due process in the event that a person faces dismissal charges and also is considered in future assignments.

¿ A contract for asbestos removal lists KASCON LLC of Marcy, at hourly rates of between $63 and $79 depending on staffing involved and when needed. It was low bidder among three.

The service would be if repair needs develop in school areas containing asbestos, said Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds Paul Rabbia. It primarily could involve sites that have not yet undergone major renovations including Strough, Joy Elementary School and the former Fort Stanwix school among them, he added. The contract will streamline a process in which district staffers temporarily seal off such areas and arrange separately for repairs later, Rabbia explained. He estimated about $10,000 would be budgeted.

¿ The RFA auditorium services contract resolution again lists Entertainment Services of 217 N. George St., the only bidder. It includes hourly rates ranging from $24.72-$61.08 for various tasks during events, plus three fees of $1,100-$1,600 for yearly maintenance.
