The Adirondack Trail Blazers opened up their New York Collegiate Baseball League season with two victories over the weekend by ousting the visiting Sherrill Silversmiths, 10-6, on Saturday and the Utica Brewers, 5-3, on Sunday.
Dezmon Nunn of Three Rivers Community College led the Adirondack offense in Saturday’s home-opening match as he hit 2-for-3, including a three-run triple, and tallied four RBIs.
James Anderson of Harding University also had a two-run double in the second inning to put the Trail Blazers up 3-0, and Mohawk Valley Community College’s Chase Matheson chipped in a two-run home run.
Holland Patent graduate Chas Parsons of MVCC picked up the victory on the mound, throwing five innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits. Kenny May of Lincoln College picked up the save.
On Sunday, Adirondack rallied back from a 3-2 deficit by scoring three runs off Utica in the bottom of the eighth to later win it.
May had two hits and an RBI, while Kevin Hix of Youngstown State University recorded a hit and two RBIs, and Travis Moe of Three Rivers CC had a hit and an RBI.
Mike Muglia of East Stroudsburg University recorded the win in three innings of relief.
Adirondack’s record is 2-0 on the season and will visit the Syracuse Junior Chiefs tonight at 5 p.m.
