Bail $30,000 for man
in hospital attacks

A 26-year-old man is accused of attacking three hospital employees after they told him to get back into bed at the Rome Memorial Hospital emergency room.

Police said Beau M. Coleman, of 251 E. Whitesboro St., fought with two nurses and a patient care technician during a stay at the hospital at 2 a.m. May 21. Police said Coleman grabbed a 58-year-old female nurse by the wrist and shoved her into a door; he punched a 60-year-old care tech in the face; and he punched and choked a 21-year-old male nurse.

In a statement to police, the staff said Coleman was pacing in his room, and they went in to tell him to lie back down in bed. The staff said Coleman became aggressive, and he hit the employees in their attempts to subdue him.

Coleman is charged with three counts of second-degree assault, a class D felony, and three counts of second-degree harassment, police stated. He was arraigned in City Court, and on Wednesday his case was forwarded to the grand jury for a possible indictment. Coleman is in county jail on $30,000 cash bail or bond, authorities stated.
