Clyde E. Eychner
Clyde E. Eychner, 91, of Westmoreland, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012. He was born in Rome, the son of Burt and Lula Sutherland Eychner. Clyde received his education in the Verona schools. On November 30, 1942, he married Irene Evans at the Canastota Methodist Church, a blessed union of nearly 70 years. Clyde was a World War II veteran, proudly serving in the United States Army Air Corps.
Clyde owned and operated Blvd Motor Sales for over 50 years, drove nothing but Fords and was a true NASCAR fan. He truly believed in American made with Ford at the top of the list.
Surviving are his wife, Irene; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert DeMartine, Griffin, GA; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard H. Eychner, Westmoreland, David C. and Pamela Eychner, Woodland Hills, CA and MT, and Dennis W. and Kathleen Eychner, Victor, NY; one brother, Glenn Eychner, Chapel Hill, TN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Clyde was predeceased by three brothers, Harley, killed in WWII, Whaley and Leon and one grandson, Eric.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Strong and Burns Funeral Home, 401 N. George St., Rome. Burial will take place in Westmoreland Union Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
