Felony contempt charge filed
A 48-year-old man is facing a felony charge because law enforcers said he threw a lighter at his girlfriend early Sunday, violating an order of protection filed against him.
Police said James D. Odom Jr., of 9276 Route 13, Camden, was in a dispute with his 41-year-old companion at her Turin Street apartment at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, despite being court-ordered to stay away from the woman. During the argument, police said Odom threw an unlit lighter and hit the woman in the cheek.
Odom is charged with one count of first-degree contempt, a class E felony, police stated. He was arraigned in City Court and sent to county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or bond. He is scheduled to return to court on May 23.
