Route 20 stop finds drugs
TOWN OF EATON — Three people from Ithaca were charged with drug possession following a traffic stop on Route 20 Thursday.
At 10:30 p.m., State Police at Marcy Trooper Michael Nackley pulled over a 2001 Saturn for a traffic infraction. The driver, Leah Internicola, 28, of Ithaca, Tompkins County, was unable to provide identification, Nackley said. Further investigation by Nackley and responding Madison County Sheriff’s deputies revealed that one of the passengers, August E. White, 32, had an active warrant out of Tompkins County. White was taken into custody and a search revealed that he was in possession of 31 grams of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms. A search was then conducted on the vehicle and Internicola was found with a small amount of marijuana, Nackley said. A search of a third passenger, Stephen J. Seay, 31, resulted in the discovery of a small plastic bag containing mushrooms, six unused needles and a pill box containing four oxycodone pills, Nackley said.
¿ White was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
¿ Seay was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.
¿ Internicola was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
All will appear in Town Court.
