Motorcycle runs off curve

TOWN OF TRENTON — Two people were injured when their motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection of Trenton and Powell roads Sunday.

Peter M. Etienne Jr., 50, of Mohawk, Herkimer County, was driving his 2005 Harley Davidson northbound on Trenton Road with Christina M. Stuart, 41, of Utica, as passenger, when he approached a sharp turn at the intersection at 6:53 p.m., Deputy Matthew R. Taylor said. Etienne’s bike locked up, and the vehicle fell onto its side, causing Stuart to be ejected and thrown into the middle of the roadway. Etienne remained on the bike as it skidded across the road and came to rest on the north shoulder of Powell Road, Taylor said. Etienne complained of leg pain and Stuart suffered hand pain as a result of the accident. Etienne and Stuart were treated at the scene and were transported by Prospect Volunteer Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, for further evaluation. Etienne was charged with failure to reduce speed for a curve. He will appear in Town Court. Barneveld Fire Department assisted.
