Old Forge Kiwanis car wash to fund children’s activities

OLD FORGE — The 11th annual Kiwanis and Key Club Free Car Wash will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, in the parking lot at Calypso’s Cove.

This annual fund raising event provides funds for the administration and operations of all the many Kiwanis children’s activities that take place during the year.

Each year Central Adirondack Kiwanis and the TOW High School Key Club and Middle School Builders Club conduct many community programs for children such as the Kiwanis Town of Webb School Student of the Month/Year Program, Christmas for Kids, Christmas Holiday Movie & Refreshments for Kids, Winter Sports Challenge, at Winter Carnival, which provides funds for the new Kommunity Youth and Activity Center, Benches on Main Street, Kamp Kiwanis Kamperships, Hugh O’Brien Youth Conference, Kiwanis Key Leader Program Scholarships, Mentoring Program and Outdoor Experience events such as Bald Mountain Climb and Kayaking on Moose River.

Last year over 100 cars were washed. Sponsor Kiwanis, Key Club or Builders Club members by pledging an amount per car washed or a set amount.

For additional information or to become a sponsor, contact Co-chairs Bob Teesdale at 369-5425 or Mike Griffin at 369-3881.

The rain date is 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, May 27.
