New Hartford police seek help with Subway robbery

NEW HARTFORD — New Hartford Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who held up the Subway on Commercial Drive with a handgun Saturday night.

Patrolman Matthew Sica said he was called to the restaurant at Avenue Plaza at 10 p.m. for a reported armed robbery. At the scene it was learned that an employee at the Subway was preparing to close for the night when a black male entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect was wearing a mask, partially covering his face, as well as a black hoodie sweatshirt, loose fit jeans and Carhart-type work boots, Sica said. The man left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running towards Ellinwood Drive. No one was injured during the heist.
