Lee lecture on Gettysburg’s pivotal Little Round Top fight
TOWN OF LEE — The 20th Maine Regiment at Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg will be discussed at the town’s latest Historical Lecture Series presentation Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, 5808 Stokes-Lee Center Road.
The presentation including a slideshow will be offered by Cheryl Pula. During the Civil War, the 20th Maine under the command of Union Col. Joshua Chamberlain defended the Little Round Top area against Confederate attacks on July 2, 1863 in one of the pivotal moments at Gettysburg.
The lecture series is part of Lee’s bicentennial observance. The presentations, continuing on the second and fourth Thursdays through October, are free and open to the public.
