Registraton under way for soccer camp

Applications are available for the annual Perry Nizzi Soccer Camp, sponsored by the Rome Sports Hall of Fame.

The camp, instructed by the Rome native and current Hamilton College men’s soccer coach, will be held July 9-13 from 1:30- 4:30 p.m. at Rome Free Academy Stadium.

The camp features a low instructor-to-student ratio and emphasizes individual skills and team concepts and tactics, fun drills and skill-building exercises. Participants receive a camp T-shirt and a soccer ball. Cost of the camp is $80.

Roller derby at Kennedy Arena tonight

Central New York Roller Derby will host its second home doubleheader of the season beginning at 5:30 tonight at Kennedy Arena. Doors open at 4:30.

The opening contest matches Quadfathers and Albany’s Capital District Trauma Authority. Shortly following the opening bout, CNYRD will hold its second intraleague bout of the season as the Blue Collar Betties battle the Rome Wreckers. It will be the Blue Collar Betties’ second intraleague bout of the season after coming up with a 178-92 win over the Utica Clubbers in their first matchup. With another win, Blue Collar Betties will be assured a spot in the Championships.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10. Tickets for seniors are $5, and children 12 and under are admitted free.
