It’s often said "we learn something new everyday" and I certainly did concerning the recent school board election process.
Some polls did not offer instruction on how to do write-in votes, nor did they lead voters to view the video that was located there — even those who by chance did get to view the video have stated it was very poorly done. At another poll the voters were instructed to only write in the last name of the candidate.
This information I received was from several individuals. Immediately I placed a phone call to the person who was responsible for any issues.
Upon the announcement of the results of the election, I also called the Board of Elections who informed me that the only part they play is to set up the voting machines for the district and nothing else. This basically tells me that no one oversees the process and the end result is up to the school district.
This is so unacceptable and it began with the district posting the wrong deadline date for candidate petitions which resulted in things being their way (school district) or no way. At this point, even Mickey Mouse would have been the better vote.
