Rome JVs score four times in seventh in baseball win

The Rome Free Academy junior varsity baseball team scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to steal a 6-5 victory from host Cicero-North Syracuse on Wednesday.

The Black Knights trailed 5-0 through four innings but they rallied back to tie it when Ian Hetherington’s double scored two runs, then Bernie Adorino doubled home a run to win it.

Hetherington had two hits, three RBIs and scored a run, while Matt Zakala added two hits, an RBI and scored two runs, and Matt Adamik singled and scored twice.

Zakala also recorded the winning decision in relief of starting pitcher Eddie Campos while allowing no hits through 4 2-3 innings and striking out five.

Rome falls to Liverpool

In girls junior varsity lacrosse action, RFA lost to Liverpool on the road, 20-7.

MacKenzie D’Aiuto scored two goals and made two assists for Rome, as Veronica Kessler put in two goals.

Lyndon Hall made two goals and had a helper, and Gabbie Carter put in a goal and contributed with an assist. Rome goalie Lauren McCarthy recorded 14 saves.
