Sentenced for lifting man’s wallet at store
A woman convicted of stealing a man’s wallet at an area grocery store was sentenced by Judge Daniel C. Wilson in City Court Friday.
Julie A. Haywood, 41, of 507 W. Seneca St., was sentenced to three years probation on a count of petty larceny, reduced from a fourth-degree grand larceny charge. She was also ordered to pay restitution, a 5 percent surcharge and a $50 DNA fee.
Police said at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 23, Haywood stole a brown leather wallet from Tops Market at 217 Erie Blvd. W. containing $550 and a man’s debit card, insurance card and bank receipts.
Also in City Court:
¿ Todd Lashen, 28, of 501 E. Dominick St., Apt. 1, was ordered to pay a $200 fine, plus a $50 DNA fee on a count of petty larceny.
Police said at 3 p.m. Feb. 9, Lashen took a pair of Nike sneakers valued at $50 from JC Penney department store at Freedom Plaza without paying for them.
¿ Eddie K. Kovar, 28, of 110 Turin St., was released on his own recognizance on a count of petty larceny. His case was adjourned to June 13.
Police said at 1:50 p.m. April 21, Kovar took a Black Men Ink magazine valued at $11 from Fastrac, 400 N. James St., without paying for it.
¿ Matthew X. Masse, 21, of 1509 Kimball St., Utica, was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with credit for time served, and ordered to pay a $200 surcharge on a count of second-degree criminal contempt.
Police said at 10:30 a.m. May 10, Masse violated a court order of protection issued out of City Court by going to a woman’s residence on South James Street.
¿ Daniel Smith, 39, of 5635 Rome-Taberg Road, was sentenced to 60 days in county jail and ordered to pay a $200 surcharge on a count of petty larceny.
State police said at 9:38 p.m. July 9, while at Wal-Mart on Rome-Taberg Road, Smith stole seven 30-packs of beer valued at $22.
¿ Nicholas W. Sorrell, 17, of 6726 Route 26, was ordered to pay a $100 fine, plus $120 surcharge on a count of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Deputy Mark R. Chrysler said at 2:23 a.m. April 22, while walking on Route 233, Sorrell was found in possession of a blue marijuana grinder with marijuana residue.
