Reel Paddling Film Festival Saturday
OLD FORGE — Rapid Media’s Reel Paddling Film Festival will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at View, 3273 State Route 28.
Tickets are $15/$12 in advance online at www.ViewArts.org. Student tickets are $10.
The Reel Paddling Film Festival is an international film tour presenting "the world’s best whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP and kayak fishing action and paddling lifestyle films of the year," organizers said. Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company, the sponsor, will also have Paddlefest on the same weekend in Old Forge. Visitors can test paddle canoes and kayaks, then attend the film festival at View to see what they can do.
View audiences can expect to see "inspiring films with wide ranging themes such as stand-up paddle surfing, hairy whitewater action, headwaters canoe expeditions, international river travel films, motivating environmental documentaries, grueling kayak fishing battles and hilarious short films capturing the lighter side of paddling life."
Audiences can expect to see these great films and more: Advanced Classic Solo Canoeing, "Best Instructional Paddling Film," with Becky Mason as she teaches from her cedar-canvas canoe on the crystal clear waters of Lac Vert, Quebec; WildWater, "Best Whitewater Paddling Film," is a journey into the places only river runners can go. In Standup 4 Greatbear Norm Hann’s 400-kilometer expedition through the Great Bear Rainforest; and much much more.
