Free skin cancer talk Wednesday

May is National Skin Cancer/Melanoma Awareness Month and The Regional Cancer Center at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare is offering a free, public lecture titled "Issues Related to Sun Exposure" Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Soggs Room at St. Luke’s Home, 1650 Champlin Ave., Utica.

Reservations are required by calling 624-5321 as seating is limited.

"Skin Cancer is one of the most common types of cancer; more than two million cases will be diagnosed this year," notes program presenter, Dr. Edward Lee. "Learning the ABC’s of skin cancer (asymmetry, border, color, diameter and elevation) helps you identify the areas of your skin that may be cancerous and save your life."

Skin cancer is one of the most preventable types of cancers. Participants can learn how to protect their skin and reduce their risk of being diagnosed with skin cancer, as well as how to monitor themselves for skin cancers.
