John P. Congden, Sr.
John P. Congden, Sr., 74, of Blossvale, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 4, 1938, in Rome, the son of Frank and Olive Joslyn Armstrong. He was raised by Jesse and Avenna LeClere Congden, his adoptive parents. He was a graduate of Camden Central High School. On June 1, 1957, John was united in marriage to Sally Peacock in Earlville, NY.
John was a truck driver for Lynn H. Scott, Inc, and a heavy equipment operator for G. W. Bryant Core Sands.
Surviving besides his loving wife of fifty-four years, Sally; are three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Mitch Blaakman, Debbie and Timothy Rose, and Kelly and Tom Tubbs, all of Blossvale; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Heather Congden, of Camden; two sisters, Bonnie Fox, of Cleveland, Dorothy Armstrong, of Taberg; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, James Armstrong, of Taberg, Ben and Debbie Armstrong, of Blossvale, and Tom and Laurie Armstrong, of Texas; seven grandchildren, Justin, Jill, John, Lily, Clara, Austin, and Leah; a great-grandson, Chaning; and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a son, John P. "Butch" Congden, Jr., on February 12, 2008; granddaughter, Shea Tubbs; and four sisters, Frances Webster, Bessie O’Neil, Avenna Evans, and Marge Kopek.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 St. Rt. 13, Camden.
