Senator to visit MVCC center

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, NY-D, will be in Rome tomorrow to announce legislation to provide education and job training for young veterans and streamline certification processes for civilian jobs.

Her appearance will be at Mohawk Valley Community College’s aircraft technician training center at Griffiss International Airport. A member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, she is due at the hangar off Langley Road at 10:15 a.m.

The airframe and powerplant technology program prepares students to be aviation maintenance technicians and for the examinations required to earn an Federal Aviation Administration certificate.

Many of the program’s graduates work for aircraft maintenance operations at Griffiss.
