Herkimer County man killed in Route 167 collision
TOWN OF MANHEIM — An 18-year-old Herkimer county man was killed after law enforcers said he cut off an oncoming vehicle on Route 167 Saturday afternoon.
Herkimer-based state police said Zachary T. Brisbane, of Little Falls, was traveling west on Barker Road at 3 p.m. when he tried to make a left turn to head south on Route 167. Troopers said Brisbane cut off northbound Ryan O. Hart, 27, and Hart’s 2007 Dodge pickup crashed into Brisbane’s 2001 Buick sedan.
The collision pushed the Buick off the west shoulder of Route 167. Troopers said Brisbane was extricated from his vehicle and taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. He later died of his injuries.
Authorities said Hart was taken by a private vehicle to a Little Falls hospital with minor injuries. No charges have been filed so far as the accident remains under investigation.
