William G. Rivet

CLARK MILLS — William "Bill" G. Rivet, 77, of Clark Mills, passed away, with his family by his side on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital.

He was born May 9, 1934 in Ogdensburg to the late William Francis and Bernadette Poole Rivet. He graduated from Ogdensburg High School and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. On October 21, 1961, he was married to Marie Clark at Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. Bill worked at General Electric and Univac for many years before going to Par Technology, where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of Church of the Annunciation and the Clark Mills American Legion Post #26. Bill enjoyed his work as a computer engineer and continued his use of computers after his retirement. He was also very handy and could make or fix just about anything. Bill was a devoted family man and loved to spend time with them at camp in Sylvan Beach where he also enjoyed boating. His grandchildren meant everything to him and he cherished time spent with them most of all.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Cheryl of Westmoreland, and Jeff and Chris of Kirkville; six beloved grandchildren, Nicole, Jeremy, Lindsey, Cynthia, Joshua and Corey; his sister Lillian Lytle, and brother Tom Rivet of Heuvelton; five sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Dorothy and Jim Petrie, Sharon Poppke, Eleanor Hart, Diane Miller and Chris Clark; several nieces and nephews and his best friend Owen Roberts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on his birthday, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Church of the Annunciation with entombment to follow at Holy Trinity Mausoleum. All are invited to call Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton.
