Motorcyclist clocked at 130
TOWN OF LEYDEN — A motorcycle operator was eventually located and ticketed for multiple traffic infractions after he was found traveling 130 mph on Route 12 Friday.
Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies said they saw a black motorcycle traveling 130 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 12 just outside the Village of Port Leyden at 3:05 p.m. The motorcycle then entered the village limits where he continued to travel at 130 mph in a 35 mph zone, deputies said. Deputies lost sight of the motorcycle on East Main Street as it made a turn onto River Road. With the help of information received from the public, deputies said they were able to locate the bike in a wooded area behind a residence on Wildcat Road. The operator of the 2006 Honda CBR 1000R, Lucas Weaver, 25, of Turin, was found at the residence, deputies said.
Weaver was charged with 130 mph in a 55 mph zone, 130 mph in a 35 mph zone, operating out of class, no insurance, unsafe turn without signal, unsafe passing and the misdemeanor offense of reckless driving. He will appear in Leyden Town Court.
