Richardson top hitter for St. John’s

NEW YORK — Rome Free Academy graduate and St. John’s University senior Kyle Richardson is having an outstanding baseball season for the Red Storm as he leads the team with a .362 batting average.

Richardson has played in 30 games this season and has started in 16 games, mainly as the team’s lead-off hitter and center fielder. He is 25-for-69 at the plate, with 19 runs scored, three doubles, seven RBIs and an on-base percentage of .471. He’s also stolen five bases in six attempts.

On defense, Richardson has 59 putouts and has only committed one error for a fielding percentage of .983.

St. John’s, currently riding a four-game winning streak, is 29-16 overall this season and is coming off of a 19-1 rout of Queens.
