The Rome Free Academy 10th grader wrote "Christopher Columbus: In his own time, in history and today" to win the Daughters of the American Revolution contest. It relays 15th century opinions about his accomplishments, what 19th century historians said and how modern day technology has been impacted by Columbus’ ability to navigate without modern equipment.

Jeselson is a member of the Fort Schuyler Society Children of the American Revolution and the Key Club.

The honor student is taking five advanced placement courses and on the RFA cross country, swimming, track and mathletics teams.
