Storm network needs precipitation observers

The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network, better known as CoCoRaHS is seeking precipitation observers in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties.

CoCoRaHS is a non-profit, community based network of volunteer weather observers of all ages and backgrounds, who work together to measure and report precipitation amounts on a daily basis.

The aim of CoCoRaHS is to provide the maximum amount of accurate precipitation data for research applications, weather forecasting, natural resource education, and climate studies. Basic requirements for being an observer are:

¿ Access to the Internet and the ability to browse the CoCoRaHS website, www.cocorahs.org, which is where daily precipitation data is entered.

¿ An official CoCoRaHS / NWS approved rain gauge — available on the website.

¿ Able to enter data on a daily schedule, preferably before 9 a.m. Multiple day reports are also accepted.

To become an observer go to the website and click the "JOIN CoCoRaHS" button in the upper right side of the main page.
