To purchase tickets or to make arrangements for a donation call Freida Griffith at 495-6144. Checks should be made payable to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54 and mailed to: c/o Freida Griffith, PO Box 34, Munnsville NY 13409.
When Lindsie Peters, 11, of Vernon Center, was 3 months old her parents, Joel and Kellie Peters, were told that she had an enlarged heart. At the age of 1 she received a heart transplant. Lindsie resides in Vernon Center with her parents and her sister Shayla, and attends Wettel Elementary School in Vernon.
Last fall she again fell ill with what turned out to be Post Transplant Lymphoma Disease. She was sent to New York City and continues to travel there every two weeks for treatment and tests. Her prognosis is good.
The Auxiliary wanted to get involved not only to help this local family but also to support the project of the American Legion Auxiliary Department of NY President Ann Geer which is the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (WWW.COTA.org).
