B Sharp scholarship winners give free concert Sunday

Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute in Utica will host the free B Sharp Musical Club Scholarship Winners Concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the institute auditorium, 310 Genesee St., Utica.

A reception will follow at Fountain Elms.

The B Sharp Musical Club held its annual Musical Scholarship Auditions in the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute on March 3. The top three winners in each category perform Sunday.

Awards were presented in the following categories:

Voice: Hannah Rosenstein, of Clinton, first place, Manlius Pebble Hill School, John Winter Family Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc. Memorial, $600; Frank Sheffield of Ilion, Herkimer County, second place, Marcella A. Lally Memorial Award, $450; Michael McCormick, of Oneida, Oneida City School District, third place, Nicholas S. Priore Memorial Award, $300.

Piano: Tiffany Teng, of New Hartford, New Hartford High School, first place, Vivien Harvey Slater Memorial Award, $600; Timothy Davis, of Utica, Utica City Schools, second place, Mary McGinty Memorial Award, $450; Mario Carillo, of New Hartford, New Hartford High School, third place, Margaret Johnson Memorial Award, $300.

Strings: Emily Wilcox, of Lee Center, New Hartford High School, first place, Broadway Theater League Margaret N. Terry Memorial Award, $600; Anjie Liu, of New Hartford, New Hartford High School, second place, Josephine Zangrilli Memorial Award, $450.

Winds/brass/percussion: Jenelle Yeoman, of Oneida, Oneida High School, clarinet, first place, Cornelia M. Griffin Memorial Award, $600; Alice Lee, of New Hartford, New Hartford High School, second place, Dr. Joseph Witt Memorial Award, $450.

$5,700 was awarded.
