Camden falls to Notre Dame
Senior pitcher Alex Lynch threw a one-hit shutout and fanned 17 batters on strikes as Notre Dame of Utica claimed a 3-0 win over visiting Camden in a Tri-Valley League match.
Lynch also walked three Camden hitters and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Blue Devils sophomore Ryan McCarthy recorded a two out single to left field.
Camden’s senior ace pitcher Cody Sullivan kept pace with Lynch by giving up no runs and just one hit until the bottom half of the sixth when the 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the league Jugglers’ Anthony Rose reached on a fielding error and later scored the game’s first run when Sullivan allowed a bases loaded walk with one out and hit the next two batters after that.
Sullivan (2-1) took the hard luck loss after allowing two hits, four walks, three hit batters and striking out seven.
Camden falls to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the TVL and will next visit New Hartford on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
