Incumbent Davis picks up petition for school board

The pool of potential candidates for three Board of Education seats in the May 15 election has grown to seven, as nine-year incumbent Mary Davis has picked up nominating petition forms along with Karen Fontana of 6451 Emerald Circle in Lee.

Davis, of 404 S. George St., whose third full 3-year term on the board ends June 30, is the second incumbent to pick up petition forms, along with Jennifer Geiger of 207 W. Sycamore St., who is nearing the end of her first full term.

Other potential candidates: Jason Rutherford of 904 Elm St.; Lenny Giardino of 1305 Cedarbrook Drive; Jay Kippen of 603 W. Thomas St.; and Ken Metz of 6445 Wager Drive in Lee.

No one is an official candidate yet, with one week remaining before the final filing date. To become official, petition forms must be filed by Friday at the school district business office, 409 Bell Road, and must be signed by at least 100 district residents who are at least 18 years old.

New 3-year terms for the three available board seats would begin July 1. Besides Davis and Geiger, the third seat is currently held by incumbent Christine Esposito, who has not picked up petition forms. The board has nine elected seats overall, and members are unpaid.
