Fifth potential candidate gets school board petition

A fifth potential candidate for a seat on the Board of Education in the May 15 election is Ken Metz of 6445 Wager Drive in Lee, who ran unsuccessfully for the board a year ago.

Metz picked up nominating petition forms Monday at the school district business office, 409 Bell Road.

There are no official candidates yet for the three board seats that are up for election. To become official, forms must be filed at the district office by Friday, April 27, that are signed by at least 100 district residents who are at least 18 years old.

Other potential candidates who have picked up petition forms so far are incumbent board member Jennifer Geiger of 207 W. Sycamore St.; Jason Rutherford of 904 Elm St.; Lenny Giardino of 1305 Cedarbrook Drive; and Jay Kippen of 603 W. Thomas St. New 3-year terms for the three available board seats would begin July 1. The other seats up for election are currently held by incumbents Mary Davis and Christine Esposito. The board has nine elected seats overall, and members are unpaid.
